Introducing the Pioreactor 40ml!
We're proud to announce the Pioreactor 40ml is now available for purchase today!
This new and improved iteration of the Pioreactor comes with a taller vial design to accommodate double the amount of culture than the previous Pioreactor 20ml. Or you can use the additional space for more aeration potential. We've also made some improvements versus the Pioreactor 20ml, including:
- Raised optical density measurement level
- Larger stir bar for better mixing and agitation
- Poka-yoke design that ensures the vial is in the correct position every time
- Our new Vial Cap S
Introducing the Vial Cap S!
The Vial Cap S is our latest iteration of the Pioreactor vial cap. The biggest change is including new stainless steel luer lock needles on the vial caps to replace the silicone tubes. These needles offer much better control of liquid than our previous Vial Cap A. We've also optimized the sealing of the vial cap, including updating existing o-rings and including new ones. An asymmetry in the Vial Cap S also means you'll be position the vial correctly each time. Currently, the Vial Cap S is only available for the Pioreactor 40ml, but we'll soon include it with the Pioreactor 20ml.
Upgrade kits available for Pioreactor 20ml v1.1 → Pioreactor 40ml
We are also making available upgrade kits for the Pioreactor 20ml v1.1 to the new Pioreactor 40ml. This kits includes new 40ml vial holders, glassware, our Vial Cap S, and stir bar. No additional hardware is required.
What's the future of Pioreactor 20ml?
We'll always support the Pioreactor 20ml, and have some exciting R&D projects focused on the 20ml coming this year. The introduction of the 40ml just expands our product line, and demonstrates where we are heading: bigger and better bioreactors!

The Pioreactor 40ml is our next evolution to bring affordable and effective bioreactors to the world. Combined with our innovative software and algorithms, our users are getting access to more and more bioprocessing data and results that were previously inaccessible.
